Moon Palace Books
When I took a quick trip up to Minneapolis a few days ago, I searched for unique places to visit, preferably indoors, as I am a native Texan, and the weather up north is not something I’m used to. And, of course, bookstores were a must-see on this trip. One such shop that instantly charmed me was Moon Palace Books.
Moon Palace Books is an independent bookstore, a cute, colorful, and cozy little place. Quaint and comfortable, it is the perfect neighborhood bookshop. You can either browse the shelves in-person, have your items shipped to you, or come by the pick-up window and get them there. Moon Palace sells more than new titles – used and bargain books also stock their shelves. Usually, Geek Love Café is open if you’re craving a tasty treat, but they are on hiatus.
I love how the staff has the place set up – with the vibrant colors and warm atmosphere. It’s a place that makes everything feel right with the world. I also think Moon Palace Books has made a conscious effort to create an environment that connects with young children. In addition to books, they have a wide range of stickers, toys, games, comics/graphic novels, and all types of kits available to encourage learning and creativity in children, no matter what reading level they are currently at.
That being said, this bookstore is excellent for book lovers of all ages. They have a sizeable collection of genres you’d expect to find in a large bookshop. You can also stumble across plenty of items other than books. I purchased two lovely, high-quality fake tattoos to use later. One was a beautifully detailed bird feather, while the other was a family of adorable penguins: male, female, and child. It was an unexpected find, but a very welcome one!
If you are looking for a smaller bookstore to escape the hectic world around you, I recommend going to Moon Palace Books. Located at 3032 Minnehaha Ave in Minneapolis, it is a worthy stop for local and traveling book nerds. And who knows? You could find something that you absolutely fall in love with like I did!
